Generous Corporate Donations!

Our donors have trusted us to make wise choices with their money. And we know that wise choices now means that we’ll have more money available to do more great things later. So, it should come as no surprise that the Greening & Grounds Committee has worked tirelessly to get the best bang for our bucks.

Volunteers have sought donations of time, product and skills, as well as competitive pricing that enables us to do as much as possible with our limited resources. We have a great vision and, fortunately, many of the people we approached have enthusiastically supported it. 

We are impressed by the professional staff, good work and community spirit provided by those who have worked with us to bring our Nurture Nature Playscape vision to life. The following companies have been generous in their efforts to support our kids:

F.E. Prior & Sons, a 100 year-old local company that offers excavation, trucking and landscape materials, provided skilled heavy machinery operators; prompt delivery of gravel, crushed stone, brick sand and mulch; and cheerful reliable service.

Greenscapes Landscaping and Property Maintenance, a local company that serves residential and commercial clients, took on the placement of our armour stone and completion of our pathways and activity areas.

 McKenzie Bros. Sand & Gravel,a local company that provides sand, crushed gravel and clear stone to residential and commercial clients, provided the beautiful armour stone that forms the benches, walls and climbing features throughout the property. but, not only did they supply these necessary pieces, they also donated a generous $1000 in free materials for our project!

 

 Hersey Bins, a local disposal bin and junk bin rental company, removed the excess sod and dirt from our pathway excavation. 

Green Horizons, a turfgrass company that has been serving Southern Ontario for 35 years, provided sod for our berms. 

Recycled Rubber Corporation (Brantford) processes tires and tire derivatives into reusable rubber products for commercial and consumer uses and donated 6 enormous tires used now as sand boxes. Rubber commodity prices vary but in all likelihood this was about $7,200 to $9,000 of rubber. A company, Renegade Urban Resources (Guelph, 519-835-7212), run by a parent, Scott Wagstaff, traded about $1,500 of rubber product and about $1,000 worth of labour to secure this trade for us. Renegade provides environmental waste management services and resources to salvage tires from landfills and urban markets and then supports their being directed towards specialized uses and in processing for sustainable rubber use. 

Poly-Corp Ltd. in Elora specializes in the design and manufacture of engineered elastomeric products that provide their customers with cost effective solutions to corrosion, abrasion, impact, noise and vibration problems.  Poly-Corp donated 480 feet (approximately 4000 pounds) of edging material that will ensure the shapes of the various play areas remain true to the original design and don’t drift over time. At cost, this donation was $6,500!  One of our parents, Brad Bedford, secured this donation for us.

Centreline Sanitation, which provides a full line of portable toilet rentals, mobile restroom rentals and an industry leading sanitation program, helped us with a very important, and probably obvious, aspect of our project. 

Our suppliers and contractors have been good to us. If you need a help for your home renovations or business endeavours, please consider supporting them. It would be the perfect way for us to return their favours – and show our appreciation for their involvement in our project and support of our children.
