Back-to-School Clean Up Work Party!

A big thank you to everyone who came out to help tidy L’École King George Public School before the first week of school.
More than 20 volunteers joined together on a perfect summer day for a morning of weeding, grass seeding, tire de-greasing, mulching and general cleaning. The weeds were definitely on their way towards world domination, but we swooped in and saved the day.
That's Kia, scrubbing the massive tires with dish soap to de-grease them!

There's Jen, our committee chair shoveling mulch!

Our contractor, Greenscapes, continues to work away at our playscape path and the last few activity areas and is on track to get it all done before the first day of school. I hope that all the rain in the forecast comes at night, so it won’t slow them down too much. Keep your fingers crossed!

The kindergarten area is looking beautiful too. The new path has been installed and the fence has been moved. The whole area feels like a park, with lots of shade, seating areas, room for running and, of course, hanging out in a sandbox. Heck – it would even be a lovely place to sit with a coffee (or a juicebox) and a book! A few more improvements are scheduled and the end result is sure to impress!
As you’re out and about with your kids, make a detour to show them the school yard. They will notice the differences immediately. It might even erase some back-to-school blues and create some first-day-of-school excitement!
Thanks again for your help and support – this past weekend and all summer long. This first big stage of our project is drawing to a close and the results are amazing. We have accomplished so much in such a short time!

Tha lady in red is Linda, she's the crew boss!

** There will lots more pictures coming up soon from all of the work done this summer,
STAY TUNED! **

Also, please spread the word about the committee and this blog!
