The Kids with Dennis Wendland!

On April 25th, Dennis Wendland from Evergreen came to speak with the students of King George about how to plan for a greener, more enjoyable playground. He explained how small changes to the existing playground, could have large impacts on the quality of their play and outside time.

Parents were also invited to come and join the short presentation.

Dennis was fun and interactive with the kids, asking them what kinds of things they thought were important in their play areas. He talked about more naturalized ideas for play, but also about maintaining healthy trees on school properties and ways to create shade.

The students were encouraged to go back to their classes and discuss ideas that they wanted to incorporate into the new playground plan. The kids seemed very inspired and eager to brainstorm some small, but fun elements to add to the school property at King George.
